And the IPL horizon expands....Pune,Kochi added

As I update my take on yesterday's double header, the news of Pune and Kochi being added to the participants for the next edition of IPL has taken center stage in almost all the news channels. Not because its such an innovation to add two more teams to an already successful tourney, the shocking fact is that, these two team have been taken for more money than it costed for all the other teams taken together. Sahara, the official sponsors for the Indian national team has won the Pune franchaise for Rs. 1702 Crores, whereas Rendezvous Sports has taken Kochi for Rs. 1533 Crores.

These two teams taken together have gone for a little over Rs. 3200 Crores, whereas the rest eight teams had aggregated Rs. 2800 Crores. This cofirms the ever increasing brand value of the IPL over the three editions.

Even though the IPL commissioner Mr. Lalit Modi has issued a statement saying there were no immediate plans to furhter expand the teams in the near future, he has not completely ruled out the possibility.
