It was a night when RR's batting clicked. Almost all of the batsment contributed, a 45 not out by Voges and another 45 by Fazal being the most important, they ended up at 183 for 5. At the end, they won by 31 runs, the margin might make you believe it was a huge victory, but the reality was different. The KXIP had their chances, as Sangakkara and Manvinder Bisla blazed away to a flying start. At 76 in 6 overs and and 107 for 2 in about 10 overs, they should have made it from there. But some intelligent bowling and smart fielding turned the match in RR's favor.
The result took RR to the joint fourth place, leaving the KXIP reeling at the bottom.
I was looking forward to see Yusuf Pathan's response to the expected short pithed stuffs that were certain to be hurled at him, as everybody must have taken notice of RCB's success against him doing just that. To his credit he was fairing decently against short balls, if not masterful, but the inning was too short to draw any conclusion. He perished trying to clear long on for the second consecutive time in a Srivastava over.
Also,it was good to see Lumb succeed finally. We have been hearing from Warne that he is a very good player, this was the first glimpse of his batting prowess.
Augurs well for RR, this.
