It was a Collingwood special that helped Delhi post 184 for five in their alloted 20 overs. A Sehwag-Warner flyer at the top had helped Delhi race to a good start, but afterwards a few quick wickets put brakes on their scoring rate. Sehwag scored 35 and Warner 32, in 22 balls each, before falling in their effort to up the tempo further. Here, Collingwood stood firm, rotated strike and unleashed his strokes towards the end in a total controlled manner. 184 was a wining total under normal circumstances, but with the strong batting line up of the Royal Challengers, one could never relax.
But in their run chase, the RCB opened with White for some inexplicable reason, and KP coming in at one drop badly struggled. He could score just 16 in the 19 balls that he faced and along with Kallis considerably slowed up the scoring rate. Kallis, though scored a half century in 42 balls, never succeeded in catching up with the required run rate and then wickets fell at regular interval. Eventually they fell short by 37 runs.
I'm not sure, why one would send White at the top despite of having a regular opener in Uthappa. Even Virat Kohli would have been a better choice, if the captain wanted to use the heroics of Uthappa towards the end. But going by thumb rule, that was a foolish move, and at the end of the match, it did prove foolish.
RCB have now slipped to the third place below Delhi, they better get back to their winning ways. It's never safe out there, the third and fourh positions.
