So finally KKR got to finish on the same note as they started the tournament, that is with a victory. They started with defeating the Deccans and ended with a victory over a second string Mumbai Indians. One loss too many spoiled their party though. This is the third year in a row, they have failed to qualify for the last four.
The only positive they can carry home at the end of the road in this edition is that, they have put up a much improved show compared to the last two years. Sourav Ganguly, for them, was in dazzling form this summer. He found very little support from the other end, and on those rare occasions when somebody did support him, their bowling and fielding let them down completely. That has been their story.
In this particular match, in reply to 133 scored by the MI, they got home quite comfortably losing just one wicket, that of Sourav Ganguly(42). Brendon McCullum scored an unbeaten half century to guide their side to this huge victory.
Mumbai Indians had gone easy on this match, as they were already in the semifinals. They are now the hot favorites to lift the trophy.
