Mahela makes it 2 out of 9 for KXIP

Finally a convincing win for KXIP! It took nine matches and 7 humiliating defeats to make them bat out of their skin and overhaul a huge total, that was earlier posted by a spirited KKR. True, 200 was not an easy total to chase. Chris Gayle had finally came into his own in this encounter and smashed a terrific 42 ball 88 to propell KKR to this huge total. In course of his inning he had scored the most number of runs in an over (33) in IPL. The bowler to suffer was Ravi Bopara. Four consecutive sixes and a boundary was what he had hit and Ravi added to it by bowling a wide ball that went past a diving Bisla to the ropes. Ganguly (36) and Tiwary (35) too joined in with useful contributions.

KXIP, this time opened with Bisla and Mahela, and what an inning this gifted player from Srilanka played! He scored an unbeaten 110 off just 59 balls to ensure that their side does not lose yet again. And when things started to look a bit tight, Yuvraj came in and exploded, scoring 33 of 16 balls that sealed the match with 10 balls to spare.

KXIP are already out of the race for the semis, but this victory does change the equation for KKR a bit. They now find themselves in the fifth place and they have got quite a bit up catching up act to do in their remaining matches.
