This tourney has been a roller coaster ride for the defending champion Deccan Chargers. They started with a loss against the KKR, won their next three games to look strong in this edition and then lost five consecutive matches thanks to some indiffernet effort and found themselves at the brink of elimination. Back against the wall, they had to win all their remaining five matches if they were to move forward.
So they did! They took one match at a time, knocked that off and moved to the next. This encounter against Delhi was a virtual quarter final match. The winner was to go through, the loser had to move out of the race. The Deccan took full advantage of their momentum from the last four matches, while Delhi struggled yet again due to the failure of their top order.
Chasing a total of 145 set by the Deccans( Symonds 54, Mohnish Mishra 25), Delhi fell short by 11 runs. Collingwood with a half century was their only significant contributor.
Now Deccan takes on CSK in the second semi final.
