In the Wednesday double header, Rajastan Royals defeated KXIP and KKR put it across Delhi Dare Devils. Both the team needed to win their matches badly, and they did so. As a result, KXIP now, are officially out of the race for the semis, as no permutation combination would help them make it in the top four. KKR, with this victory have kept their chances alive in this tournament. They have to win every match hereafter and they know it.
In the first match, chasing a decent total of 153 for six, Rajastan Royal raced to victory in 15 overs as Michael Lumb blasted 83 runs off 43 balls. He has been in great form and he is using it to good effect. Naman Ojha (44) and Yusuf Pathan (21) also chipped in with useful knocks. This win puts them in a joint 4th position if net run rate is not considered, and this is vital, as they are left with only 3 more matches.
The other match saw Sourav Ganguly at his best yet again both with the bat and on the field. KKR remembered their loss the other night, when they could not restrict KXIP even after scoring 200 runs. So in this match against Delhi they strived to make amends and suceeded due to a total team effort on the field brilliantly lead by Dada. While batting Sourav scored a 46 ball 56 to help KKR set a target of 182 for Delhi, and on the field he ran Gautam Gambhir out, also took a brilliant catch to dismiss Kedar Yadhav. Delhi, despite of Sehwags 64 in 40 balls, fell short of the target by 14 runs eventually.
